Who We Are ...
The International Research Center for Family Life is the name used in China for the U.S.-based Becoming What God Intended (BWGI) Ministries. Our purpose is to profoundly influence the Chinese culture through the presentation of Christian values in the universities of the capitol city of Beijing. The long-term goal is to do the same throughout China.

The Tasks At Hand ...
The Chinese Ministry of Education has invited our organization to:
º Retrain the psychology and mental health workers in the 26 national universities-the best in the country-as well as the other universities and schools in Beijing.
º Train these same individuals to use a values-based curriculum that we have developed.
Also, we are to place in Beijing universities, American Christian psychologists in the undergraduate and graduate psychology programs.

The Expected Impact ...
Those to be impacted by the curriculum are:
º Present psychology teachers and mental health workers of Beijing
º Hundreds of thousands of students who will receive our curriculum from these same teachers
º Thousands of psychology students who will be exposed to the visiting Christian teachers
º The entire Chinese culture because these are the values-shapers of the country

An Invitation Extended ...
The Chinese Ministry of Education has extended this request because:
1. Many of the older professors have been trained in Russian psychology that they feel was not helpful.
2. The cultural revolution from 1966-1976 closed the universities and caused immense psychological and spiritual damage leading to a further lack of training.
3. The psychology departments heads are looking for new values and ethics.
4. The government has not allocated resources to provide significant foreign training.
5. Over the last three years, we have lectured on over 20 campuses in Beijing and have been warmly and enthusiastically received.

Tens Of Thousands Affected ...
Now here is the astounding part! We will train 40 different teachers three times a year, totaling 120. Each year a teacher counsels approximately 100 students and teaches a minimum of 700. In two more years, the total number of students exposed in some form to our values-based curriculum will be in the hundreds of thousands. The student population in Beijing is over one half million.

A Values-Based Curriculum ...
A wonderful aspect is that all of our teaching and training is values-based-on Christian values. These values appear to be intuitively appreciated by the Chinese directors and teachers. The Chinese Christian teachers and counselors (we have some in every class) are thrilled. One of them said that what we do creates a perfect platform for evangelism.
